I mailed out my letter to senator Ted Cruz I would like to be optimistic but I am not. Judging from all of the news articles and interviews I have see him in he is pro-gun. He is a typical republican that wants the government to have minimal control over what we do. He fights to protect the 2nd Amendment as much as possible. With that being said, I don’t think he will be supporting my bill. I am, however, curious as to what he may say.I sent my letter out a little later than I should have but hopefully I will hear back soon
However I did read an old article from a year ago about politician Beto O’Rourke. Beto was claiming that the reason Cruz is pro-gun is because he has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from the NRA. Now I don’t know how true that is but I will leave the link below for you to read. Thank you!

Dear Senator Cruz,
My name is Angela Ambrose and I am a concerned citizen of Austin, Texas. As a constituent, I am writing today to urge you to support the Gun Violence Prevention Research Act of 2019 (congress.gov). I am sure you can agree that it is time for state officials to seriously debate more restrictive gun laws. This policy is critical to ensuring public safety and adequately keeping guns out of the wrong hands.
The Gun Violence Prevention Research Act of 2019 supports protection against gun violence and requests $50,000,000 funding for research by Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on firearms. The funding’s purpose would be for conducting and supporting research on firearms safety or gun violence prevention. Ultimately resulting in suitable solutions to fight against domestic terrorists and mass shootings.
As a military wife, I see the benefits of being licensed to carry, as well as, the impact of gun violence in the news every day. Because we have had four mass shootings in a matter of two years according to the Dallas News Post (Dallasnews.com). It is time that we begin to work together to organize ways to prevent innocent people from dying. We need Congress to ensure that gun access is to be limited in order to assure the safety of Austin’s citizens.
I am aware that Congress currently faces hard economic decisions and that you are approached by many worthy causes. I hope that you will keep the Gun Violence Prevention Research Act of 2019 a priority as the fiscal year 2019 funding process moves forward. Thank you for your attention to my request.
